http://www.c4dcafe.com/ipb/index.php?app=downloads&showfile=736

Here’s a 40 minute tutorial on how animate text being written as per our 11.5 review. MoGraph 2 and the MoSpline object is used at the very end of the tutorial to add the swirly bits so even if you don’t have this module you can get something very similar just using the core version of C4D. The bulk of the tutorial is how to prepare the text spline.

Use the power of Xpresso and Mograph to create a 3D bar graph that automatically updates based on settings that you specify. In this tutorial you will learn how to set up Xpresso, which allows you to link the different parameters together, so that the graph can be easily animated and adjusted to fit any set of data.

SurfaceSPREAD Update 1.00.23

Changes:

Improved Slope Filter
In the Slope Filter (in the SurfaceSPREAD Object and also in the Distribution Override Tag) the axis can now be set from “+Y” (default) to “Custom Direction” and link a Null Object. The Null Object’s Z axis will then be used as direction by the filter.
That way you can intuitively grow more trees on the sunny side of a mountain or moss on the weather side of a tree.

New Distance Shader
The Distance Shader can be compared with a simple Proximal Shader. The gradient spreads from the active camera. That is quite handy e.g. to blend in a detail texture when coming close to an object. To do this, simply put the Distance Shader into the mask channel of a Fusion Shader, or use it as layer mask in a Layer Shader.

Normal Bug fixed
Shaders and renderers depending from the polygon normal direction (e.g. Vray) sometimes produced a strange result when the clones were aligned along the surface normal. This has now been fixed.

C4D Cafe does another outstanding job reviewing R11.5. It’s hardly what can be called a review though, as it’s really much more than that. C4D Cafe goes into the new features and shows how to use them. Great Job!

MAXON Announces Strategic Partnership with Developer of Py4D

Users can now add functionality to CINEMA 4D using the powerful but accessible Python programming language.

MAXON Computer, a leading developer of professional 3D software, today announced a strategic partnership with Tuningchannel, the developers of Py4D. Py4D provides access to the Python programming language for MAXON’s leading 3D application CINEMA 4D, giving users an easy way to enhance CINEMA 4D with custom functionality and workflow.

Python is a powerful programming language with a comparatively simple learning curve. Python’s unique blend of simplicity and power excels in a wide range of software development tasks. Existing Python scripts and libraries can be utilized in any pipeline. Python also enables integration between software apps for the exchange of data and assets. Top production and engineering firms depend on Python every day.

Py4D is currently in open beta and can access the majority of CINEMA 4D’s functions. The goal of the strategic partnership between MAXON and Tuningchannel is to better integrate Py4D into CINEMA 4D and bring the level of stability and ease of use to which MAXON customers have grown accustom.

“Python is easy to learn and provides almost the same access to CINEMA 4D functionality as the C++ SDK,” commented Harald Schneider, CTO and co-founder of MAXON. “We want the CINEMA 4D community to know that we are supporting the development of Py4D so they can confidently invest resources in Python and Py4D to enhance their own production pipelines.”

Tuningchannel’s Sebastian Rath reiterates, “Py4D quickly brings countless capabilities to the CINEMA 4D community. We are pleased to have the opportunity to work with MAXON to bring Py4D from beta to final product as smoothly and quickly as possible.”

The latest Py4D beta, including documentation, is available free of charge at www.py4d.com. The web site also offers a user forum and other resources. Future development and integration into CINEMA 4D will be forthcoming.
