Microfloaties Rig for Cinema 4D

Microfloaties is a FREE tool for Cinema 4D that lets you quickly add floating dust particles to your scene. It’s a rig fashioned from some of the mograph tools (cloners and effectors), some xpresso, and given specific user data to control the amount, size and speed of the dust particles, as well as the scale of the area they occupy in your scene file. Microfloaties requires Cinema 4D R12 Studio. You will need to have the mograph module and dynamics for Microfloaties to work properly.

How To Model and Extrude Dog Tags In Cinema 4D

Fromt GSG:

In this tutorial, I show you how to build realistic Dog Tags in Cinema 4D. First we will model them by using Extrude and Sweep Nurbs. Then, we use Sub-Polygon Displacement to form the lettering on the tags. I will show you how to setup the dynamics using soft and ridged body tags and how to bake the solution for faster playback. Finally, we light and texture the tags to prepare them for render.

Unfurl released

Unfurl is a combination of a generator object and a tag which lets you do a similar unfolding as aforementioned. Going beyond the original technique, options have been included to scale the polygons as they unfold, have the polygons flip in or out or in a random flip direction. With the Unfurl Easy Setup command in the Plugins menu, you can select a Polygon object and quickly add the Unfurl object and tag and be on your way. This plugin is fast and memory conservative. Nonetheless, note that the application of control polygons on the tag may be a time-consuming process on objects with many polygons (nearing one million, for instance). This preprocess step helps drastically increase the speed of the actual unfolding by the Unfurl object so be patient.

Greyscale Gorilla announces Texture Kit

What is it?
Texture Kit is a collection of over 140 Custom Materials and Textures for Cinema 4D for use in your projects and renders. These materials are made by Cinema 4D artists and ready for professional production work.

The Artists
Version 1.0 of texture kit includes materials from two Cinema 4D artists. We hope to add more artists in future versions. Future materials will be included at no extra cost.

The Requirements.
Texture Kit requires Cinema 4D 12 and above. All versions including Prime, Broadcast, Visualize and Studio are supported for most materials. Special materials like hair, displacement, and sub-surface-scattering materials will only work with Studio. Less than 10% of the included materials require Studio.

What’s Included?
Over 140 custom textures including natural textures like brick, wood, glass, and leather. Mograph style textures like Glows, Gloss, Patterns, and soft material. Many Hair and specialty textures are included as well.

Extras!?!?
Texture Kit also comes with “Texture Maker” which makes making simple textures very quick and easy by using sliders and color pickers instead of the default texture options.

NITROBLAST

NITROBLAST

A new fracturing plugin from the creator of Thrausi and Catastrophe. Allowing completely automatic, collision driven fracturing, Nitroblast is written from the ground up to be faster, bigger, more powerful and better from all angles than the previous fracturing plugins.
Even though it’s numerous, powerful features, it was designed with simple, easy to use interface in mind. Features include:

Autobreak: Completely automatic impact based fracturing: You don’t have to do anything, just run a dynamics simulation or even a custom animation with 2 objects colliding, and the auto-break will do the rest. It will break the objects based on their impact point. It supports:
- Multibreak for multiple colliders on an object,
- Deepbreak (as described below)
- Cracks: Generate parametric Cracks for the part of the object that stays behind

Deep Break: Used for incremental breaking of an object. For example you when want to break an object into pieces, and then these pieces to break again themselves when they collide with another object. You can easily set up the breaking levels as well as which objects will initiate them, with Deep Break.

Voronoi break quality: Low, Medium, High , extreme. Low is for fastest, extreme is for high quality final result, that fully preserves the original shape of the object.

Thickness: You can set the fractured object to be hollow inside, with a controlled parameter.

Bake Normals: Bakes the normals for removing any artifacts from the object’s surface, that were visible after the fracturing.

Bake Object: Bake any object have dynamic tag and export in format so you can work with other programs .

Transparency: For transparent objects, you can hide the fractured pieces inside before the impact.

Style presets: Already including preset settings for rock, stone, artifact free glass and lava, you can also easily create your own presets.

Dust: Automatically generated dust. It is Thinking Particles based, so it can be edited or used in conjunction with other Thinking Particles for further control.

Materials: You can apply inside and outside materials. By using a subpolygon displacement material for the inside surfaces, more realistic cuts can easily be created, that are not flat.

Additional tools: Nitroblast Splinebreak: Break and extrude any spline into fully parametrical individual segments. Animatable parameters include: Mode (segment size or count), Offset, Depth, Gap and others.

Nitroblast Bomb: Can be used to automatically fracture, and explode an object on an impact point. Bomb can also be used to effortlessly explode already shattered objects.

Nitroblast Cut: Break an object based on other objects. This way you can define the shape and weighting of the fractures, the fall-off, the limits, or even break the object with pieces that are based on the shape of polygons or splines.

Kernimator (FREE)

The Kernimator allows you to kern up to 26 characters on a single line of type. You can spec the font, size, z-depth, and basic rounded fillet cap options for your text, just like you can using the regular MoGraph Text Object.

m4d – mental ray for Cinema 4D released

We’re very proud to announce, that the times of beta testing for m4d are now officially over. For the last 1 1/2 years our team of programmers, 3D artists and UI specialists worked hard to make m4d one of the greatest and most sophisticated render implementations available.

Key-Features of m4d:
- Two renderers in one package: Raytracer mental ray and GPU-supporting pathtracer iray
- Implementation of interchangeable MetaSL shaders
- Supporting the awesome MIA Material with BRDF, Translucency, and much more…
- Fast Subsurface Scattering (Fast SSS) and Carpaint Shader (Coated Materials)
- Ready for Nuke & Co.: More framebuffers than you’ll ever need!
- Illumination options for every taste: GI, FG, Importons, Unified Sampling, Irradiance Particles and IBL
- Native support of nearly all Cinema 4D’s shaders and objects
- Great usability: Proceeding the ease of Cinema 4D’s UI and workflow
- Motion Blur, Depth of Field and Photographic Exposure
- Ready for NET Render, MoGraph, Thinking Particles and Dynamics
- iray will use all available resources for rendering: CPU and optional GPU
- Live-preview of your scene with iray: the most advanced implementation of a GPU pathtracer available!

Thanks again to all our beta testers – especially our co-developers Cloudscape – who have supplied us with lots of valuable practice-oriented information to make m4d what it is now: Lots of fun to work with and yielding unbelievable render results!

You can find more information, gallery images, video footage, trial versions and – of course – the purchase option on m4d’s webpage www.m4d.info. Also, we’re celebrating the m4d release by lowering the price from 980 EUR to 850 EUR for the whole month of June.
